Improved response:
The color and style are great, but the slim cut runs a bit tight on my hips. I usually wear a 31-inch waist, but I should have gone with a 32-inch for a more comfortable fit. Overall, it's still a decent piece.

Measuring yourself or someone else? Hold the measuring tape level with the floor - not too tight, not too loose.
To find your natural waist, bend slightly to one side and measure at the crease.
Measure the fullest part of your hips/seat, standing relaxed with feet apart.
